We retired a big drive the VFD-M has been in Delta's product portfolio for years, now its legacy continues with its replacement VFD-MS300 a new line of high-efficiency, state-of-the-art drives.

Looking back in the 1980s and 1990s Taiwanese manufacturers gradually began to embrace automation as a leading electronics manufacturer, Delta was transforming its factories and realized that imported appliances were too expensive and lacked local customer service. For example, a 1KW frequency converter was very expensive at that time. Realizing a deeper knowledge of the market needs of the time, Delta's management team raised the idea of working with self-developed machines, which placed the Company on the path of industrial automation.

Entering a new field, Delta began its journey with frequency converter products. Refined conventional product research and integrated insights to create a strategy with an initial focus on Taiwan and Mainland China markets. In an environment different from today's market, Delta has distinguished itself in a market dominated by international brands, delivering high-performance products at relatively affordable prices. Through years of effort, Delta has condensed its experience and introduced the frequency inverter from VFD-M series in 1997. It was called "Mini Drive" and is designed to deliver medium-heavy power in a compact size. With its compact design, several pilot tests were run to overcome the heat dissipation challenge. The series met the requirements of Taiwan's large SME market. Delta has also leveraged its advantages as a local brand to provide quick customer response services and help resolve customer issues by visiting applications onsite. From product to service, Delta has shown its determination to develop industrial automation.

Delta's VFD-M series has been on the market for 23 years. It has become an all-time favorite and has sold out. more than 5 million units worldwide. Over the years, the series has gained recognition for its durability and has contributed to the expansion of Delta's Industrial Automation Business Group (IABG). The IABG team grew to hundreds, the company's focus shifted from components to smart manufacturing and now offers software and hardware integration solutions. Although the VFD-M series variable speed AC motor drive is still capable of many applications, Delta is looking at current trends and opportunities for the future. To help customers seize new opportunities and explore the high-end market segment, Delta has retired the VFD-M series of AC drives and launched the Compact Drive MS300 series to continue the legacy in its place.

The Compact Drive MS300 series Delta's inherits the advantages of the VFD-M, such as a compact design and all the other features of its predecessor. It helps users save space and seamlessly upgrade while optimizing performance and reliability. The series offers improved power density and supports open-loop control of IM and PM motors. The MS300 Series Compact Drive also provides a 1,500 Hz high frequency output and an integrated PLC for simple programming needs. It compensates for the deficiencies of the VFD-M series AC motor drive and meets the requirements for high-torque, high-precision, high-speed power applications. A wide range of applications includes machine tools, textile machinery, woodworking machinery, packaging machinery, electronics manufacturing, wind turbines, water pumps and air compressors.

Communication and connection capabilities have become critical to the development of automation. Delta introduced the MS300 Series Compact Drive for the digital age. It features built-in RS-485 (Modbus) and various communication card options including CANopen, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, EtherNet / IP, PROFIBUS DP and MODBUS TCP for the latest requirements. Delta also offers the high-performance Basic Compact Drive ME300 Series and Compact Drive MH300 in its product portfolio to respond to a variety of applications. As it moves into smart manufacturing, Delta is poised to gain new business opportunities with customers.
